Greetings,
I am running for City Council because I am passionate about Murrieta. As a husband and father of three, I want a city built on the time-tested values of stability, consistency, and integrity. I believe my family as well as every other resident deserves a vibrant attractive community where they can live, work, shop and play.
During my 5 years as a planning commissioner for Murrieta I have been tasked with implementing policies set by the city council. I am running because I see a need for change in some of those policies in order to create a stronger, more effective Murrieta.
It will be my number one priority to create a strong economic base by attracting professional and commercial business as well as restaurants and entertainment to Murrieta.
I intend to ensure our city remains a safe place to live and work by providing proper resources for our police and fire departments.
I will demand our city focuses on infrastructure first and building second.
I believe in what Murrieta is and what Murrieta can become! Join me in working toward a better Murrieta.
Randon Lane
A Brief History
When my wife Bridget and I began our search for a place to raise our children, we were looking for an area that shared our vision and values of stability, consistency and integrity. When we discovered Murrieta, we knew we had found what we were looking for and we planted our roots in this fast-growing, family-friendly community. We enjoy being a part of the creation of the community and hope to instill our values and vision with others who desire a truly, high-quality and sustainable lifestyle within the city.
California Born
I was born in 1969 in Palo Alto, California to Rosemary, a homemaker and Ralph Lane, a full-time minister. I was the youngest of four children and enjoyed a traditional family upbringing. My father’s career as a minister took our family to many different cities, and we lived in many different states, including Indiana, Arizona, Oregon, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma and California throughout my childhood.
I met the challenge of these moves by excelling in school, staying involved in sports and being active in many extracurricular activities. When I decided to settle down, I remembered my early years in California and returned here to begin my adult life. In 1998, I met and married Bridget Bo, who had a wonderful daughter, Chelsea. In 2003, we were blessed with Randon, Jr. who was added to the Lane family and in April of this year Bridget and I adopted our new beautiful son Joshua Ryan Lane.
Education
I received an Associate’s Degree in Business Marketing at Warner Southern College in Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, with an emphasis on Marketing and Communications, from The University of Texas at Arlington.
Employment
Upon graduation, the boom in the internet and wireless industries was well underway and my educational skills served me well with employment opportunities at Fortune 500 companies such as Telecommunications, Inc., Media-One, AT&T Broadband, Nextel and Sprint.
Public Service
After working in corporate America for over 16 years, I became interested in the public sector and was appointed in December 2006 as the Field Representative for California State Assemblyman Kevin Jeffries. My duties included meeting with constituents, representing Assemblyman Jefferies at local functions, including school and municipal events, and being a point of contact for Assemblyman Jeffries in the Inland Empire and San Diego regions. During my tenure, I worked closely with Cal Trans, the City of Temecula and Congressman Darrell Issa’s office as the mediator of the French Valley Interchange project. I recently resigned from my position with Assemblyman Jeffries and returned to work in the telecommunications industry for Verizon Wireless.
My Murrieta
Since making Murrieta my home in 2001, I have been closely involved with the City of Murrieta in a variety of volunteer positions. I am a former representative on the General Plan Advisory Committee and the City Steering Committee, and I am currently serving my second term and currently Chairman of Murrieta’s Planning Commission.
Contribute/Volunteer
In addition to my work with the City of Murrieta, I believe it is very important to make time to be involved in non-profit organizations serving the region. I currently serve on the Board for The Boys & Girls Club of Southwest Riverside County and sit on the Board and am Chairman of the Silent Auction for the Mary Ellen Hames Lupus Walk. I previously served as the appointed representative by Supervisor Jeff Stone to the First Five, Children & Family Advisory Committee and have participated in many other organizations including The Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, Calvary Chapel of Murrieta, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Every 15 Minutes and Murrieta’s Student of the Month to name a few.
Committment to My Community
I am running for the City Council of Murrieta this year to assist the city leaders in ensuring that Murrieta remains a city built on the time-tested values of stability, consistency and integrity. No matter the outcome, I am committed to continuing my quest for these values for myself, my family and my community.
